a couple images from the railway reserve just before recent rains. very unstable clay with basalt floaters (which you can't see here.) that is melbourne in the distance, and the rail-freight line raised up out of the flood-plains (as they were until the creek was engineered into a channel, possibly to keep it away from the landfill being dumped on top of it - not sure when. maybe up until the 80's even. i must check that.) apart from the artichoke thistles you are looking at a rare victorian grassland of Themeda triandra or kangaroo grass.
